Yamaha

SY99

$800.00

This is a great example of the FM beast, the Yamaha SY99! Very clean. All functions/buttons working. Battery is still strong. I have more photos. The UI here for adding photos is pretty crap.I have discovered two of the patch change buttons are a bit finicky. They work, but every once in a while need a second press. LED lights are fine. For me this was NBD, but new parts are easy to source for this synth, surprising considering its age.The last detail is that this unit came from Japan so it is 100V. A step transformer is highly recommended. I have one I could include at the listed cost.I’m open to trades too! 80/90s rack synths, drum machines, FX and other processors. Korg Z1, Access, FM synths, wavetable synths, K2000/2500R. What have you got?Presumably if you’re looking at the listing you’re already familiar with this synth but here are basic specs;Date introduced: 1991Polyphony: 16 notes ("Elements") of AFM + 16 notes (Elements") of sample-playback (AWM2)Voice Architecture: Each voice can have up to 2 AFM (6-operator) Elements polyphonically, or 4 AFM (6-op) Elements monophonically, plus up to 2 AWM ElementsFilter: 2 multi-stage, time-variant, with resonance and self-oscillation per ElementSequencer: 16 tracks, ~27,000 note capacity, 99 patterns, up to 10 songsEffects: 2 internal digital effects processors with 63 types of effects, derived from Yamaha's popular rack-mounted processor, SPX900Keyboard: 76 notes with velocity and channel aftertouch, which can be zoned along with pitch-bend to affect only specific keysMemory: 128 preset patches and 128 user patches, 16 preset multi-patch setups (up to 16 voices each) and 16 user multi-patches, 512kB of RAM as standard for user-loaded AWM samples or MIDI data recording from/to connected devicesExpandability: Disk drive for 720kB DSDD 3½-inch floppy disks which allow to save/upload various file types (All data, voices, samples, songs, multis etc.). 2 card slots for cartridges (one for programs, one for samples); 5 rear-mounted slots for SYEMB05 memory modules of 512kB each, up to a total of 3MB RAM with standard hardware.
