1986 Fender TL-52 Telecaster Reissue – FujiGen MIJ (A050042) | Very Good+ | slightly modified | Super-lightweightUp for sale is my 1986 Fender TL-52 Telecaster Reissue, made at the legendary FujiGen Gakki plant in Japan. This is a classic “Made in Japan” Tele built during the golden mid-’80s production era — a time when Fender Japan was setting the benchmark for craftsmanship and vintage accuracy.SpecsModel: TL-52 Reissue (’52 Tele specs)Year: 1986Factory: FujiGen Gakki (Japan)Serial #: A050042 (“A” prefix = 1985-86 era)Body: Custom made ultralight “Esquire” style (no front route) constructed of one-piece Sugar Pine finished in gold glitter lacquer. Original butterscotch alder body (very heavy) sold years ago.Weight: Crazy, slingable 6lbs, 3oz. Super resonant & loud. Made of same species of Sugar Pine as Broadcaster/Telecaster prototype (“Snake-Head” Tele). Wonderful playing experience—Total custom indulgence.Pickguard: Custom made “Esquire” Bake-O-LiteTM to match 50’s spec.Neck: Maple, 1-piece with vintage 7.25” radius and amber tint. Deep “V” carve. “TL-52 EX (export)” ink stamp (see pics).Frets: Re-fretted w/ Fender tall vintage @2001 — plenty of life leftHardware: Original vintage ashtray bridge & brass saddlesPickups: Original Stock MIJ single coil components (bobbin, mags & copper baseplate) & AlNiCo V magnets (recharged) that were rewound to late 40’s Fender lap steel spec (“Micawber” specs) by Josh Gravelin. 9.1K.Electronics: Repurposed older CTS pots, tone bleed circuit & caps that are set up to classic “Esquire” circuit (see pics). Front position features vol only w/ tone cap that captures a “cocked wah” sound. Middle position is std. Telecaster vol & tone. Back position is vol only w/ tone pot bypassed dropping pickup directly to output jack for unadulterated power. Kinda gives the user an on tap “overdrive” function!?! Will go from mild to wild at the flip of the switch. Very user friendly & intuitive. If you’ve never played an Esquire circuit, you’ll wish you had once you plug this gal in & take her for a test ride!ConditionThis Tele is in very good+ condition for nearly 40 years old.Only light player wear — a few tiny surface marks, some mild checking a gouge or two, but no major dings, cracks, or repairs.Neck is straight, truss rod works smoothly, frets clean. This is a monster “ringer” Tele. Very lively & chimey w/ bell-like tone for weeks-maybe months!?! Plays and rings like a vintage sugar pine body Tele should — bright, snappy, and full of character, but has tons of power on tap due to “Micawber” spec Fender “Champion” late 40’s lap steel pickup build.Originality & Extras100% original parts except where notedIncludes period-correct HSC and bridge cover“Made in Japan” neck heel decal intact — not a later Crafted seriesPrice$1,595.00 (OBO)Comparable A-series TL-52s from ’85-’86 routinely list between $1,500 and $2,000+ depending on condition. This one’s clean, highly original, and ready to gig or collect.ShippingFully insured U.S. shipping via UPS or FedEx.
