Vintage 73 Ludwig Hollywood - Natural Maple (Refinished Thermogloss)

Vintage 1973 Ludwig Hollywood kit. The original Thermoglass finish had quite a bit of crazing, cracking and peeling of the factory lacquer, so it was a perfect candidate for refinishing. I stripped the shells of all hardware and shipped them to Anthony DeFusco at Village Drum & Music who trued up all edges and refinished the shells with numerous coats of Minwax Polyurethane. As you can see they turned out absolutely beautiful. 3 ply Maple/Poplar/Maple shells with Maple re-rings and factory lacquered interiors. Sizes are 14X22, 8X12, 9X13 and 16X16. There is no snare included with this set.This is a factory 'born together' kit with 6 digit serial numbers. Shells are in round and the edges are in excellent condition.Serial numbers are as follows;14x22....B/O/ Badge #92599816x16....B/O Badge #9239979x13 ....B/O Badge #9239288x12....B/O Badge #925098No extra holes or modifications of any sort on this kit. The internal mufflers have been removed and are not included.Chrome is clean and bright without the typical wear and scattered pitting usually seen on 50 year old kits. Hoops on the 3 toms are all 1.6 mm Ludwig. Two key head tension rods and claws that sit on eash side of the pedal on the rear bass drum hoop are not original. Interiors are in excellent factory condition with original lacquer, and all internal screws and washers are original. Double tom mount is in excellent condition and holds everything tight with no slippage. Bass drum spurs are the 5/16" arched version and the tips are nice and sharp. Badges are clean and tight to the shell, and new badge grommets were installed after refinishing. New, unplayed, Remo clear CS-Black Dot batter heads on all four drums, and new, Remo clear Emporer resonant heads on the 3 toms. A new front bass drum head with period correct logo shows this set off nicely. Upon request, I will substitute the tom batter heads with lightly played Remo Coated Ambassadors and an Aquarian Super Kick II on the bass drum.This is a beautiful early 70's era 3ply Maple kit that tunes up easily and has that great vintage sound Ludwig is famous for.I welcome any questions.
