Thank you for looking at this listing of my very well kept Paul Reed Smith Custom 22.We are moving for work in 2026 and I cannot take three guitars so this amazing instrument along with my brilliant Tele are sacrificed so the other, not-for-sale Custom 24 Wood Library can live another day.As my go-to fixed bridge guitar for 20 years; it’s perfect. I’m a Dragon 2 believer. I hope you‘re able to enjoy their musical quality. The bridge is a wonderful modern-ish PAF that also coil taps but rips fully open, as it should! It’s not a modern, compressed arpeggio machine, but it’s completely at home chording all over and shredding up and down. Primus and Opeth play these and they’re gods. It may be a little less bright and punchy in the bridge than an HFS in a Custom 24, but thicker in the mids! I play some classics, dad rock and metal from Sublime to ZZ Top, AC/DC, Tool, Opeth and SRV and I’m not as good as those guys, but I can cover all the sounds. A brand new PRS USA bridge is currently installed. I will also include strap locks and a Levi's Hendrix strap if you need them. If you don't want them, let me know.I ordered this custom through the now-closed Guitar Heaven in Nashville, TN and spent its entire life in the Bay Area, California. Always in a case and always inside. Heat in the winter and AC in the summer. Temperature stable forever.As part of my prep for sale, this received a full tune-up from Sylvan Music and the bridge was dialed in. New 10/52 Elixirs. It’s setup DADGBE.Neck:Wide-Thin Neck Carve is smooth and natural without being too thin or fat. Great for leads and rhythm; a fabulous allrounder feel. There are no dings or scratches or divots in this neck.Scale: 25” scale is that PRS magic! 22 frets.Inlays: BIRDS.Frets: The frets were leveled by CB Perkins and have terrific action.Fretboard: The fretboard is beautiful Indian Rosewood. 22 frets. The grain is very pretty and something you won't see a lot of anymore. I have ebony on my CU24 and really wish I had Indian Rosewood like this.Body/Paint:Body wood is one piece mahogany. Top is deeply carved flamed maple which PRS calls the violin carve. The flamed maple peeking out is sexy. Platinum metallic is the finish with a fantastic and deeeeeeeep natural scraped binding exposing the flamed maple underneath. That era put out insane. I always wanted to add another gold top guitar to the stable to compliment the silver.Pickups:Dragon 2 pickups in 3-way push/pull configuration with volume and tone controls. Both split/tap.Neck: Depending on the day, a Dragon 2 coil tapped neck pickup on a 22 fret guitar is my favorite sound. It's not noisy unless you're running a lot of pedals.Bridge: Terrific and full. Not boomy. Not ice picky. Very balanced.Condition:The condition is very good. It would be excellent/mint overall except for a few dings on the body and headstock. Every ding was preventable and I’m still ashamed of my passing callousness leading to the inevitable dent or ding. They absolutely do not affect playability. As I never planned to sell, I never repaired them because it’s, how do the kids say, “natural relic!” Please reference the pictures. I estimate most dings are between 2-3mm, the largest is probably 1/2” and near the output jack. I tried my best to show wear on the back. I wouldn't call it buckle rash, but you can see some impressions in the gloss.Care:The guitar was always maintained early-on by the legends at CB Perkins in San Jose, CA, later by Mark Brown of Mark’s Guitar Repair in Campbell and finally at Sylvan Music in Santa Cruz.
